Our Doctors

Dr. Mark F. Gardner

Owner

Since a young age, Dr. Mark Gardner had an interest in becoming a veterinarian. Growing up in southern New York, his experiences with his Veterinarian uncle, Dr. Mike Gardner, sparked his interest in animal medicine.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 1987 before enrolling in the University of Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated with honors as a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He was also the recipient of the L.E. Fisher Award for proficiency in small animal medicine. Before moving to small animals, he practiced working with large animals, such as cattle, swine, and poultry.

Dr. Gardner joined the team at Corfu Veterinary Clinic in September of 2006. His professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, reproduction, endocrinology and geriatrics. He is a member of the Western New York Veterinary Society, the New York Veterinary Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and Buffalo Academy of Veterinary Practitioners.

Dr. Gardner most enjoys being sought out by clients and their pets for help in solving their problems and improving their quality of life.

At home, Dr. Gardner and his family have a black Labrador, Anubis, two cats Midnight and Lizzy, and a gold fish. They have raised 4 Guiding Eyes for the Blind Puppies. He enjoys motorcycles, bicycling, and playing beach volleyball.

Dr. Nicole Kelver

DVM

Dr. Nicole Kelver joined the medical team at Corfu Veterinary Clinic in August 2016. Growing up on a farm in Sheldon, New York, she was motivated to become a veterinarian by watching her own animals being cared for. When someone told Dr. Kelver that becoming a veterinarian was difficult, she decided that she was up for the challenge.

In 2007, Dr. Kelver graduated from Keuka College with duel bachelor’s degrees in math and biology and a minor in chemistry. As an undergraduate student, she won the school’s Chemistry Award her freshman and senior years. After college, Dr. Kelver attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine where she was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.

“The most satisfying part of being a veterinarian is choosing every morning to help keep pets healthy, even though they can’t communicate to us,” Dr. Kelver says. “I enjoy helping to bridge that understanding to our clients.”

Dr. Kelver is the president of the Buffalo Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery and behavioral counseling.

At home, Dr. Kelver has a beautiful golden terrier mix named Rogue Marie and two cats. Born in February 2011, Rogue enjoys long walks at the park, pig ears and rolling in the grass and snow. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Kelver enjoys bass fishing, watching Buffalo Bills games, hiking with Rogue and running. She is also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Dr. Brooke Beatty

In her final steps towards her dream career, Dr. Beatty attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2017.

Dr. Beatty has been a licensed veterinary technician and had worked in a mixed animal practice since 2007 before joining our team.

Dr. Kayla’s professional interests included wellness/preventative care, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and building relationships with her patients and their owners. Dr. Weaver’s favorite part of the day is seeing the patients she has treated come back healthier and better than ever! She became a part of Corfu Veterinary Clinic in June of 2024 and fits in great on our team as a dedicated vet.
